- Making sweet filling for Modak
Add 1 spoon ghee to a hot pan. Saute jaggery together and coconut until blend well n mixture turns thick. Do not overcook add cardemom powder nutmeg powder. Turn off gas flame cool completely. - For dough - Bring 1 cup water to a rolling boil along with salt n ghee turn flame low flour give good mix may b dough looking dry, crumbly.
- Turn off gas flame cover the pot keep aside let the dough steam in heat. Rest until the temperature comes down sprinkle hot water 2-3 spoon n knead.
- Divide dough into 11 equal size balls keep covered with cloth. Ensure the coconut filling cooled down
- Modak made with mould - Grease the mould lightly with ghee close mould keep dough ball inside press with fingers towards sides of mould Then stuff sweet coconut n seal
- Open the mould transfer the modak to grease steam basket.
- Steaming -
Place all the modak in a greased steam basket you can skip greasing n spread moist cloth in steam basket sprinkle some saffron if you like - Place a trivet n bring to a rolling boil on medium high heat. Place the steam basket inside steam for 10 min.
- Offer them Lord Ganesha.
